Number 6 of my NYR. I'm pretty proud of myself for actually keeping up with this thing. Aren't you? :) A little tidbit about this song:
1. All the mean things said to me in this song are based on true events. Some happened to my friends and most of them happened to me.
2. It is a bitter song, but I wouldn't have written it if there weren't rude people out there. So here you go rude people, I'm actually thanking you for being overly blunt.
3. This is one of my favorite songs, and it's often requested when I play at open mic nights. Surprisingly, many boys like it. I thought it would appeal to mostly women, but I do realize that we can be pretty cruel too, and despite what we may think, we can be overly blunt and leave any trace of "sugar-coating" out of it.
4. Someday when I'm big and famous (grin), I will send some token of my appreciation to those that helped contribute to this song, both the victims and the perpetrators. :) Someday.......someday.........
5. Enough said. Enjoy the song!
WHERE DO YOU COME OFF?
Let me tell you a story about a boy
Who thought that my heart was his toy
He said "You have the wrong shape of eye
and because we don't wear blind folds you will never get a guy"
And I said:
"Where do you come off?
You blew me away
With those stupid things you say.
They're not okay.
Where do you come off?"
Where do you come off?
He went on to tell me
"I don't think I'm sorry to lose you now"
I think "I think I'm okay with that, I'll just move on."
Then he said "I think I'm more sad to lose your mom."
And I said:
"Where do you come off?
You blew me away
With those stupid things you say.
They're not okay.
Where do you come off?"
Where do you come off?
I don't know why they think they can tell me anything they want.
Can't they see it's not okay to say these things to anyone?
Where do you come off?
You blew me away
With those stupid things you say.
They're not okay.
Where do you come off?
Where do you come off?
You look pretty but maybe 'cause I'm in a good mood today.
I really like you but I just can't seem to get past your weight.
You remind me of my little sister.
Then why'd you kiss me the other day, little mister?
Where do you come off?
You blew me away
With those stupid things you say
They're not okay
Where do you come off?
Where do you come off?
